Querciabella

Querciabella. Greve in Chianti. A bucolic setting. One of the finest winery in all Italy. This is Querciabella..

An idyllic reality that can boast numerous records, including being a pioneer in Italy of biodynamic and organic products. Its owner, Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni, is a modern patron with an all-Italian figure with a strong charisma and an ambition for perfection. He deserves the credit for having brought to the chair so far thoughtful hippy habits.

In this region blessed by the climate and indelible memories of Renaissance flavor, father and son have given life to hectares of vineyards divided between the Chianti and Maremma. Land already used for the cultivation of vines but which had never been seen so respected. The integrity of nature is the battle cry of the patron of Querciabella.

Where innovation lies in knowing how to apply ancient methodologies to a purpose that is all current.

Businessman with a penchant for beauty and uncompromising on issues such as respect for animals and the environment. A start in organic therefore, an evolution in organic biodynamic and today the perfect formula: organic, biodynamic and vegan. A wine that is pure grape juice with the unique interaction of winemaking intelligence. Then manual selections, spontaneous sedimentations, hand blends, barriques and tonneaux in pure French wood from selected forests.

We feel a strong liaison with our cousins from beyond the Alps who, in terms of aesthetics and good oenological practice, are masters. In a genuine land like Tuscany, very anchored in the past, it is nice to discover flashes of modernity like this. Where innovation lies in knowing how to apply ancient methodologies to a purpose that is all current: to create products that do not erode the soil-nature heritage but rather know how to integrate in full respect.

Palafreno, Chianti Classico, Batàr, Camartina, Turpino and Mongrana are the names of the house wines.

All their wines are made with strict attention to respect for the environment and without the use of products of animal origin at any stage. Even the same fertilization takes place with plant-based methods by means of a technique called “green manure” which involves the burying of legumes. All these attentions cannot help but contribute to the creation of a wine of the highest quality and satisfaction that well deserves the very high scores and acknowledgments of the experts.

Palafreno, Chianti Classico, Batàr, Camartina, Turpino and Mongrana are the names of the house wines. All with a story to tell.

My favorite is the Batàr. An extraordinary white in the land of Red. A concentrate of purity and sensuality. Intense and seductive. Inebriating scents, all the elegance of the Querciabella house and an ending that seems to never end.
